Tennis 17th

Apologies for a poor start to the week and we never even got a run for our money with any of yesterday's selections.

I was particularly disappointed by Young who really has lost his confidence while Istomin did not look sharp at all.  He could not make any in roads on the Tomic serve and he made to many simple errors, which cost him the match in the end. Tomic played solid consistent tennis throughout, particularly on serve, and if he continues playing like that he will be difficult to beat this week.

His next match against Dolgopolov should be a far sterner test however, and while it won’t be as entertaining as their 5 set epic at the Australian Open, it should still be a great match between two of the games bright young talents.

Monte Carlo Masters Series – Live on Sky Sports & Betfair Live Video

Llodra vs. Fognini – 9.30am (LOST -0.5)
Back Llodra at 2.16 - Lay at 1.26 for equal profit or if wins 1st set (whichever comes first)
Stop loss - Lay at 3.8

I think this is a good trade as Fognini has poor record winning the 1st set.

He has lost the 1st set in his last 8 matches on clay vs higher ranked players, lost the 1st set in his last 7 matches overall and lost in straight sets to Llodra here in 2010.

Clay is far from Llodra's best surface, but he is usually difficult to break and his aggressive net rushing tactics can be affective against clay courters who play deep behind the baseline.

Also this is a home tournament for Llodra and the support should bring out the best in him.

If Llodra wins the first i'm not 100% certain he will go on and win as Fognini has a good record on clay coming from a set down. I would be ready to trade some of your profit on Fognini if he is holding serve and showing signs of breaking Llodra in second set.

If Fognini does break and wins 2nd set you can then lock in further profit if he wins it.

Youzhny vs. Gil – 10.45am
Lay Youzhny at 1.6 - Back at 3.2 for equal profit or if loses 1st set (whichever comes first) (WON +0.84)
Stop loss back at 1.3

Youzhny has not played since Dubai back in February due to injury and has poor record at this tournament.

Gil has already played two matches in qualifying this week so will be well prepared. He also reached the quarter finals here last year from qualifying, so will be motivated to defend his ranking points.

Not 100% certain he will win, but he is good enough on clay to take advantage if Youzhny is at all rusty.

Matches I may trade In Play (will confirm by Twitter)

Kohlschreiber vs. Tsonga - 12pm (No trade advised - Kohlschreiber lost)

I'll be keeping a close eye on this match and looking to lay Tsonga if he's not looking at his best, in particular on serve. He comes here after losing a Davis Cup tie on home soil against USA on clay, which could have dented his confidence and he does not have a good record at this tournament or on clay in general.

Kholschhrieber is a more natural clay court player and he also has a good record at this tournament. He has the advantage of a competitive match under his belt and should be able to challenge Tsonga today.

They have met on clay twice and they both have one win. Both matches were close and i expect a similar outcome today, if so Tsonga should definitely trade higher in running.

Monaco vs. Haase – 2.30pm (No trade advised - Monaco lost (retirement 3rd set)

I'll be watching this match closely and will be ready to lay Monaco at short odds. Mainly because he won the title at Houston on Sunday, had long flight Sunday night/yesterday and could be fatigued and not 100% motivated.

Haase has not been at his best so far this year, but he has shown signs of good form. It’s just a matter of time before he starts winning again i think and just needs a few wins under his belt to gain some confidence. He won his first ATP title on clay last year so can definitely play on the surface and if Monaco is at all jaded from Houston last week Haase should be able to capitalise.

Good luck!
